Benedict was born and brought up in East Anglia where his passions were mostly directed at music, before switching to acting and directing in his late teens.

After school he began training as a Civil Engineer before being drawn away by the theatre and completing his acting training at the Poor School, since when he has been engaged as a professional actor and director.

Benedict is one of the founders of A Winter Road. He has acted in many of their short films and he wrote and directed The Last Seaside Variety Show.

Recent directing credit for the theatre include the premier of Rorschach in Russia by Carol Boyer in 2011 at Pentameters Theatre, "A captivating piece of political theatre." Camden New Journal.

In 2012 he has been directing short plays for Theatre 503 and The Old Red Lion in April 2012.

Benedict is working with a number of writers on scripts for the stage, for short film, feature films and a mini-series.
